Key Things to Know

3 Year Rule

You must have contributed to KiwiSaver for at least 3 years to be eligible for the First Home Grant. The years don\'t need to be consecutive.

$1,000 Minimum

When withdrawing for your first home, you must leave at least $1,000 in your KiwiSaver account. This stays there until retirement.

Combined Benefits

If buying with a partner, you can both apply for the First Home Grant and withdraw your KiwiSaver - potentially doubling your deposit boost!

Kainga Ora First Home Loan

If you have at least a 5% deposit, the First Home Loan could help you buy your first home. This government-backed scheme makes it possible to buy with less than the standard 20% deposit.
